Katiyari.in is a community heritage and public-information archive. This policy explains what information the archive maintainers handle, why it is handled, and the choices available to you. It applies to the public website and contributions sent to the archive. The private editorial tool is used only by the authorised administrator and is not a public service.
Information handled
You can read the public website without creating an account. The website does not provide public user profiles, applicant accounts, payment collection, automated job applications, advertising, or sale of personal data.
When production analytics is configured, Google Analytics may receive limited usage information after you interact with a page, including the page viewed, language, broad device and browser information, navigation events, scroll progress, and outbound-link URL or link text. The site disables advertising personalisation and Google signals. Google and hosting providers may process technical information such as an IP address, request time, user agent, and security or delivery logs under their own service terms.
If you install or use the PWA, your browser stores the app shell, fonts, and selected previously visited heritage pages on your device. Career, civic, scheme, admin, authenticated, and third-party pages are excluded from offline document storage. You can remove this data through your browser’s site-data or app settings.
Archive contributions
Contributions are sent by email to archive@katiyari.in. They may include your name, email address, photographs, family history, documents, dates, places, and the publication permission you provide. Do not send Aadhaar numbers, bank details, passwords, medical records, children’s private school records, or information you have no right to share.
We use a contribution to assess authenticity, contact you, preserve village history, make corrections, and publish only the material covered by your permission. A submission is not automatically published. Newspaper clippings used for opportunity discovery remain private; public opportunity pages use original summaries and links to official sources.
Before sharing another living person’s personal information or image, obtain their permission. For children, obtain permission from a parent or lawful guardian. Tell us whether material may be published, quoted, credited, anonymised, or kept only for private verification.
Sharing, retention, and security
Publicly approved material is visible worldwide and may be indexed, archived, quoted, or copied by third parties. Official-source links send you to external websites governed by their own policies. We may disclose information when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect the website, its users, or another person.
Private submissions are limited to maintainers and service providers needed for email, storage, hosting, security, and editorial work. We keep them only as long as reasonably needed for the stated purpose, provenance, disputes, legal duties, backups, or a pending deletion request. No internet or email system is completely secure; avoid sending unnecessary sensitive information.
Your choices and requests
You may use browser controls to block analytics scripts, cookies, or local storage. Blocking them does not prevent access to the archive, although offline installation may not work.
To ask what contribution data we hold, correct it, withdraw publication permission, request deletion, or raise a grievance, email archive@katiyari.in with enough information to locate the material. We may verify your identity and authority before acting. Withdrawal does not undo lawful processing already completed, third-party copies, or records that must be retained by law, but we will take reasonable steps concerning material under our control.
Changes and contact
We may revise this policy when the website, service providers, or law changes. The date above will be updated, and significant changes will be presented clearly. Questions and privacy requests should be sent to archive@katiyari.in.
