Changing the name on agricultural land or a house is daakhil-kharij (mutation). Looking up a khasra online does not finish the job. Most Katiyari cases go through Barhaj tehsil and the village lekpal.
Papers that are often asked
- Identity proof and a recent Bhulekh / khatauni print.
- On death: death certificate and a list of heirs (family agreement).
- On purchase: a copy of the registered deed.
- On partition: a family agreement — ask the lekpal / kanungo for the expected form.
The list changes by case and year. Ask fees and forms at the tehsil counter.
Order of work
- Match khasra number and current khata with the lekpal.
- File at the tehsil; keep the receipt.
- Allow time for field inspection or objections.
- Check Bhulekh again after the name is entered.
